Restoke is a socially driven performance company led by 3 co-directors and artists. Based in Staffordshire we combine dance, music and visual art to produce works that breathe new life into forgotten spaces.
We believe in the power of site-specific performance in reimagining buildings of historical, cultural and community relevance. We hope to inspire people through participation, sparking unique community experiences. We move, play, sing and create together regardless of age, ability or experience. Place is important to us, we believe through the arts we can have an impact on social issues surrounding our places and weave less-heard voices into our stories.
Set within the disused Victorian swimming pool of Tunstall Baths, real life stories are retold through Restoke’s blend of dance, live music and animation. The Voyagers takes a journey through spirited tales of resilience, love, regret and Ricky the lion.
Moments of happiness and heartache are performed by a diverse 40 strong cast. The performance is guided by the voyage of the individual life, the joys to be treasured and the lessons to be learnt.
The Voyagers was supported by Arts Council England and The Esmee Fairbairn Foundation and is part of the ArtCity programme.
